My Story

Nobody is born a professional at their industry-everyone who wants to be exceptional at something has to work hard at it, both through practical work experience and education. Read below for details on my education and past work experience.

Ernesto Devis was Born on June 29th of 1959.  Son of a Colombian/American man and a Mexican woman. He grew up in a Latin American culture in both Mexico and United States. At the age of 22 after getting out of the United States Marine Corps decided to reside permanently in Mexico City. In 1984, unskilled, he decides to look for a job as an English teacher at the Anglo Americano in Mexico City. He gets hired and begins his first English teaching job. After a year of teaching he falls in love with his job and decides to take the Teacher’s Diploma course, a fast one year English instructor’s course that trains English speakers to give classes. Upon completion Ernesto gets a job at Hellen Key, an elementary school in Mexico City and teaches first grade until 1987 when he decides to move to Cuernavaca Morelos and starts teaching English to adult college students at the University State of Morelos. In 1991 he is hired by the Tec of Monterrey, one of the most prestigious schools in Mexico. After the first year he is informed that he can no longer teach there because he did not have a formal teaching degree. In 1992 he decides to enroll in a B.A. program named English Language Studies with Thames Valley University in London. He is awarded a scholarship from the Mexican government and is accepted by Thames Valley. Upon completion in 1995 he returns to the Tec of Monterrey and is rehired as a high school English teacher. He also is rehired by the University of the State of Morelos again, and works at both schools until the year 1997. In 1997 he moves back to the USA and starts teaching Spanish at Pinecrest Elementary school in Van Nuys california for 1 year and then moves to Houston Texas to start teaching English at the Micro Technology Institute until the year 2000 when he decides to return to the Tec of Monterrey for 2 more years. In 2002 he moves to Juneau Alaska and starts teaching Spanish , during this time he decides to study a Master’s Degree in Education with the University of Phoenix and is awarded another scholarship, this time from The United States government. He graduates in 2006 and returns to the Tec of Monterrey and University state of Morelos for 1 more year and in 2008 leaves both schools to give private lessons on line, not satisfied with online classes, In 2012 Ernesto decides to move to Juneau Alaska and is rehired as a Spanish Teacher at the University of Southeast Alaska, Juneau campus, where he taught until 1013. In 2013 he startedd teaching For the Anglos Americano in Villa Coapa, Mexico City for one year then moved to Virginia USA and was there from 2014 to 2017

As a passionate and detail-oriented industry professional, he has always approached complex projects with a holistic approach. A large part of his success while working with people stems from his ability to cultivate an intuitive understanding of their needs, and spearhead the project from there.
